Throughout the spring and summer the Gliding Group holds a series of open weekends to introduce members of BBC Club to the exhilarating sport of gliding. You will be invited to take a trial lesson in our two-seat, dual control glider with one of our qualified instructors.
Training
All our flying is at a discounted rate so we hope you'll decide to continue gliding and with further instruction (and good weather!) maybe qualify as a solo pilot by the end of the season. Your basic training will be in our K21 two-seater, later, when you are experienced enough, you will be able to fly our single seat LS8.
Locations
Most training takes place at Booker Airfield near High Wycombe where we operate as part of Booker Gliding Club. We also fly with Lasham Gliding Society just south of Basingstoke, and at the famous London Gliding Club at Dunstable Downs. Our two gliders are normally based at Booker during the season, but all three clubs own a wide range of gliders, both single and two-seat types, which our members can fly when appropriate.

Membership
Gliding provides equal opportunities for both boys and girls. Solo flying is permitted from the age of 16 and family members are welcomed into the group.
Cost to join
£50
This includes your first flight (a trial lesson) and membership of the Connect Group. Please ask for details.
Please Note
Personal insurance cover for gliding is not provided by the BBC Club. Third party liability cover is however provided by all our partner gliding Clubs and under the policies for BBC Club's own gliders. In the case of two-seat gliders this liability cover, of at least £2,000,000, extends to the second seat occupant as well. Members are advised that if they require personal injury insurance they should make their own arrangements.
If you join between January and March your membership will automatically carry forward to the following March.
