Activities
Canal cruising is fun and easy to learn. Narrowboat life is friendly too - we like to think of the canal network as a linear village surrounded by flowers and trees, wildlife and of course plenty of pretty pubs along the way! 'It's as if your whole life slows down and you forget all about the city life'.
All group members are eligible to hire out the narrowboat during the year and can take friends and family as crew. We hold club dinners at canal-side gastro-pubs every year and our newsletter CUTtings carries information about the Club, the canals and places of interest.
Facilities
Our narrowboat 'Savoy Hill' is 60 feet long.
She has a semi-trad stern and sleeps up to six people (we have very flexible accommodation from one double and five singles to three doubles and one single). There is central heating, two flush toilets, a hot shower, cooker, fridge, microwave, toaster, radio, TV, DVD and video.
Training
New hirers receive a two-hour training session before they set off covering boat handling and how to manage locks. There is also an optional one-day course, based on the Royal Yachting Association syllabus, for those who would like more in-depth training.
