About
A flexible day based around a 4 mile circular walk from Chawton to Farringdon. The morning is a 4 mile circular walk from Chawton, taking in the former Meon Valley railway, the village of Farringdon and the outskirts of the Chawton House estate. There is a gentle hill. The afternoon depends on your interest in Jane Austen. Austentatious: a sandwich lunch, either BYO or from Cassandra's Cup deli/cafe, followed by visiting the Jane Austen House Museum, the author's home in the last years of her life. Less Austentatious: a leisurely lunch at the Greyfriar pub, perhaps with a stroll round the pretty village, followed by tea and cake.
