About
We will take a walk through Central London squares and hidden gardens. Our first stop is Lincoln’s Inn Fields the land of lawyers, doctors and students. Next, Red Lion Square the possible burial site of England’s only recorded non royal ruler. Queen Square where the statue isn’t who you think it is. Russell Square site of the first London cabbie’s shelter. Woburn Square and the first university to award degrees to women. Gordon Square home of some very famous 20th C literature figures and a memorial to a WW2 heroine. Our final square celebrates peace, though has encountered violence. Our last two green spaces are a community garden and a garden reclaimed from the dead! Along the way we pass unique pubs and see plaques and statues dedicated to writers, revolutionaries and visionaries.
