About Nigel
I’m Nigel Wheeler. I am a guitarist, composer/songwriter and guitar tutor.
I have worked professionally as a guitarist for over 25 years in which time I have performed as a live and studio session player in many different settings and styles. My playing ranges from solo finger style acoustic guitar, blues, rock, funk, jazz, country, bluegrass, western swing and gypsy jazz. I’m accomplished in most styles.
In the last 15 years I have become very active on the gypsy jazz scene and have worked intensively on developing my playing in this style. I have played in a variety of UK based gypsy jazz groups and now lead my own group Reverie Quartet.
Teaching all styles and levels from grade 1 through to grade 8 and beyond. I have also developed two 10 week guitar courses for beginners and intermediate levels that have received a lot of praise over the years. I have successfully run these courses at a number of TV and media companies including the BBC. (Courses at the BBC are for groups of 5 and upwards on a selected day on line for 10 weeks, if you already have a group of 5 or upwards please get in touch to arrange dates or also keep an eye out for BBC Club run courses TBC.) 1-1’s are also available (Please keep current contact details on our Website)
Since 2005 I have been providing guitar courses to companies to offer their employees as a company perk / wellbeing initiative. The courses are 1 hour per week and run for 10 weeks. I normally teach groups of 10-20 people per class which can be conducted during the working hours (lunchtimes or morning/ afternoon breaks, they can also be arranged after work too.)
The courses have proven to be great fun and provide an excellent opportunity for those who are usually too busy to learn guitar after work or just don’t know the right way to get started. Even with the growing number of online guitar education sites it can feel overwhelming to a new comer of guitar and can often feel like an impossible task.
Group classes provide a thorough learning experience and offers practical advice and attention to each individual. Also research has found that learning in groups is often more productive and is a great way of enabling people to interact with each other.
